Wildfire M&S

Sensor & Simulation-Based Fire Suppression

RTSync is proposing with a team of University and Industry partners to implement a three-level approach for integrating wildfire modeling and simulation research with the sensor system.

Level I Support cost-efficient sensor placement based on fire risk maps and fire spread probability map.
Level II Early fire detection provided by the sensor system is critical for generating timely resource dispatch plans and thus reducing fire suppression costs.
Level III For large-scale fires, the real time sensor data are assimilated into on-going simulations to reduce uncertainty in fire front location and direction to focus suppression efforts more effectively and efficiently.

An example of wildfire simulation with sensor network is shown in the following movie clips.
